
Doorly´s 12 years old Rum Madeira Finish
Doorly’s 12 years old is just like the rest of the rum from under Doorly’s flag - a true artisinal rum completely free of added sugar.
The 12 years on the bottle indicates that the youngest rum in the blend remained for at least 12 years in the barrel. After mixing rums of different ages final aging in barrels that previously contained sweet Portuguese fortified wine Madeira contributing with notes of dried fruit, nuts and depth. During the first part of the storage it uses white oak casks from the American whiskey production.
Foursquare Distillery where the rum is made, occupies the site of a former sugar factory with roots from 1636, which today is one of the most modern and efficient rum distilleries in the world. The distillery is designed to be both very energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
Martin Doorly founded the company in the 1920s. He developed many new rums and some was allowed to bear his name. In Barbados, five different varieties of Doorly’s are sold, most displaying the famous parrot on the label.
The company was sold to RL Seale 1995. The current master distiller is Richard Seale, one of the region’s most innovative distiller and blender, who has a passion for producing perfect rum with great flavor.
