Doorly´s XO Rum Sherry Finish
Hidden somewhere deep in the lush tropical forest lives a rare bird, the beautiful blue Macaw. This parrot can be found on the label of Doorly’s XO Fine Old Barbados Rum.
A drink as rare and beautiful as the bird. This rum comes from the House of Martin Doorly Barbados and is manufactured according to the tradition of fine, old matured rum. First matured on bourbon casks for 6 years, then this rum has undergone a special secondary fermentation. This second fermentation lasts for 1-2 years and takes place in sherry oak casks of Spanish Oloroso. There occurs the maturation process that gives Doorly’s its special soft roundness.
Foursquare Distillery where the rum is made, occupies the site of a former sugar factory with roots from 1636, which today is one of the most modern and efficient rum distilleries in the world. The distillery is designed to be both very energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
Martin Doorly founded the company in the 1920s. He developed many new rums and some was allowed to bear his name. In Barbados, five different varieties of Doorly’s are sold, most displaying the famous parrot on the label.
The company was sold to RL Seale 1995.
The current master distiller is Richard Seale, one of the region's most innovative distiller and blender,
who has a passion for producing perfect rum with great flavor.
