Mount Gay Rum Extra Old

The distillates contained in Mount Gay Rum are both single distilled and double distilled. Single distillation takes place in “Coffey stills” and the double distillation takes place in the traditional “pot stills” which results in a lower alcohol strength but gives the rum a more intense and robust character.

After storage, this distillate acquires an exquisite and intense flavor, not unlike the one included in the finest cognac - one of the explanations for Mount Gays unique and flavorful character.

Mount Gay Extra Old is a blend of specially selected rum distillates stored in barrels between 12 and 17 years. Mount Gay Extra Old is the house’s prestige product.

It is also the only rum in the world whose contents cannot be said to be of a certain age age on the basis of taste and smell.

Rum production on “The Mount Gay Estate” has been running for over 300 years now.

He mixes patiently the finest oak-aged single distillates with the Mount Gay special copper boiler based double distillates to obtain a unike and smooth taste with great complexity, and a full fragrance of maturation. This cleverly-made blend of the finest spirits stored, who has received several Gold and Grand Gold prices, best enjoyed “on the rocks” or totally clean, neat.
